Hunter gatherers eventually encountered challenges to their way of life and began to adopt agriculture as a way to ensure a reliable food supply. These budding settlers were called Basketmakers. They were the earliest kinds of people to create a significant amount if petroglyphs where they settled — this is because they stayed long enough to invest in the landscape. Even so, their glyphs are rare, which makes them that much more fascinating! These petroglyphs are from northeastern Arizona.
