Malibu Creek State Park is a lot of fun to hike because there are so many points of interest to see. It’s like a great big outdoor museum of Los Angeles history and the movie business. Today my adventurous friend Sue and I went for a fun exploration of the M*A*S*H tv show set and a little secret excursion behind Century Dam.
The M*A*S*H set is always fun to visit. Its a little bit of tv history that is lovingly preserved by Malibu Creek State Park. This visit I saw that they added a fun new kiosk that projected where the tv show hospital used to be against the natural setting. Really clever.
And of course the old jeeps and ambulances as well as the sign pointing to all the cities you want to get to from Saigon, including Decatur.
Sue had not seen Century Lake before, which at the turn of the century (1900) used to be a stocked fishing hole for the Crags Country Club. And this day we got lucky. We were able to gain easy access to expore behind the dam. The abundance of tan volcanic rock in this park makes a unique landscape.

In the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the famous scene where they jump into the river was filmed here at Century Lake.
