The day after hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim, after dinner I zoomed out to the edge of the earth to catch the sunset, but I was just a little too late for the big show, plus it was hazy so the light wasn’t searing the rock as I’d hoped it would. I was able to capture a timelapse of what I saw and it is still breathtaking.
The next morning I woke up long before my camping buddies to drive out again to the edge and see the sunrise. I hardly knew where to look. The colors crawled over the landscape like a slow flood and kept changing. The high winds prevented a timelapse because I spent most of my time reerecting my blown over foldable backpacking tripod. So I just decided that the best memento of that experience was a picture of me trying to take a picture.
