I affectionately refer to this hike as The Afterburn Tour of Satwiwa near Newbury Park, CA. It is a fascinating tour of the affects of the May 2013 forest fire that burned 24,000 acres of Newbury Park and Camarillo. The trail is in a temporary austere state and soon enough will be lush with spring buds. Small green shoots are already staking their claim at the bases of burned trees and the cacti are thriving. This is a unique opportunity to see this wilderness in a different way. This hike starts at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa, dips down into Sycamore Canyon in Point Mugu State Park, then returns to Satwiwa via the Old Boney Trail.

I made this hike in November 2013.
